Brooklyn Pops Up
Brooklyn Pops Up
This is a magical guide to the fascinating city of Brooklyn, New York, for anyone, young or old, who loves pop-ups. From one double-page spread springs to life Brooklyn Harbour, with its magnificent bridge and boats galore; from another page bursts out the glorious Prospect Park Carousel, with colourful horses and beaming children; on another page there's even a pop-up hot dog!
There are eight magnificent double-page spreads altogether, plus movable cover. The book was produced to coincide with the exhibition in Brooklyn in December 2000, which celebrated the history and art of the movable book, and the book's movable masterpieces were produced by 11 of the world's top illustrators and paper engineers, including Robert Sabuda, Maurice Sendak, Iain Smyth, Tor Lokvig and Chuck Murphy. A real work of art, and collector's item. Wonderful.
